The US army purchased 10,587 of the revolvers between 1861 and 1864 and the US Navy purchased an additional 6,226 between 1863 and 1865 This example has an anchor stamped into to top of the barrel showing it was purchased by the US Navy. It also has inspectors initials on the front of the cylinder.
This example has a significant amount of bluing remaining on the barrel, probably 60 - 70%. The barrel marks are sharp and readable and the anchor is clear. The rest of the metal is a pleasing grey color with some staining. The action is crisp and there are case colors remaining on the loading lever. The numbers match on the barrel, cylinder, loading lever and plunger. There is cylinder scene left on the cylinder. The action is sharp and the cylinder pin is tight.
