Confederate Cartridge Box
This cartridge box is a copy of the US Pattern 1857 cartridge box. It has belt loops sewn to the body of the box. There are no rivets. The belt loops are pointed, and not half round like the US Pattern. Also the leather side pieces are one thickness instead of two like the US Pattern. The leather is in good solid condition. The implement pouch is thin leather and mostly detached.
This exact box is pictured in an article on confederate leather in North South Trader Magazine. At that time the box was part of the Paul Johnson collection. A copy of the magazine is included with the box.
