CLAUBERG NON REGULATION BRITISH PATTERN 1827 STEEL HILT OFFICERS HIGH QUALITY SWORD
This is a beautiful example of a high quality officer's sword and scabbard. It has a high quality gold washed blade and a grip backstrap with ears. The blade has high quality etching that looks to have The etching enhanced by chasing. The scabbard Is browned with narrow brass ring bands, trumpet throat and German drag in brass.
The steel HILT has a large eagle over US with a ribbon above the eagle with E PLURBUS UNUM on the ribbon.
The condition is excellent. The blade is beautiful. The gold wash is complete and bright. The etching and chasing is sharp and gorgeous. There is a strong US and a panoply of arms. There is also "PERESERVE" on the blade. There is the CLAUBERG makers mark on the base of the blade. The HILT is nice. The backstrap has a somewhat darker grey metal color from being held over the years. The scabbard Is solid and has almost all the Browning intact with good color.
This is a wonderful example of a high quality sword. SOLD
