US Contract Forage Cap

This is an original forage cap.  An example of basic Union Soldier headgear.  This particular example has a nice look.  The wool body shows some wear, repair and has a few moth holes.  The bill is solid and original and most of the original sweatband is present. The sweatband shows wear.  The diameter of the flat round top part is 5 3/4".  The lining however is reproduction lining.  Also the chinstrap is a reproduction.  When I got the cap it was missing the lining and the buttons and chinstrap.  I had restoration performed - including the reproduction lining, original eagle side buttons and a reproduction chinstrap.  

With this one you have a solid looking forage cap.    SOLD
