US Belt and Buckle

The belt and buckle were a basic piece of equipment for the soldier.  This example is in very nice condition.  The buckle is an arrow back and is in very nice condition.  The belt is full length and has no tears.  A leather loop comes with the belt.  The loop is detached from the belt.  Originally the loop was sewn to the end of the belt to retain the end so it did not flop around.  The soldiers did not like them and often removed them completely.  Mid war the leather loop was replaced with the stamped brass retainer.
