Starr Revolver Holster
This holster was produced to contain the Starr double action revolver. It is complete with latch tab. And sewn plug in the bottom of the holster. The belt loop is sewn and riveted to the body of the holster. On the belt loop are remnants of the makers mark showing this holster was made by Gaylord.
Inside the flap is an ink inscription. Oscar S. Stocking / Co F 1st... August 20, 1861 and was captured at his first battle May 25, 1862 First Winchester. He is listed as having deserted Jan 12, 1864 near Knoxville Tenn. I have concerns that the inscription is from the period. The holster Is a nice example of a scarce holster.
