P1861 Cartridge Box with Sling SOLD
This cartridge box has a deep tooled line around the flap. The box and sling are complete with tins and both plates. The box is not marked with a makers name. Putting a makers name on a cartridge box was not required until contracts accepted after the summer of 1862. This box being unmarked is likely from contracts earlier than the summer of 1862. The box has all straps and buckles firmly attached. The box strap is full length and has the eagle plate. There is a spot of wear on the strap where it connects with the top loop of the box. There is some leather loss there but the strap is continuous and stable. To me it suggests the box was worn with the waist belt over the shoulder strap. That tooled line looks sharp.
