HARPERS FERRY 1842 MUSKET - 1852

Harpers Ferry 1842 Musket   SOLD

The model 1842 musket started production at Harpers Ferry in 1844 and continued into 1855.  The total production was around 100,000.  It is a 69 caliber smoothbore musket.  

This example is dated 1852 on the lock and 1850 on the barrel.  The metal is a grey patina with scattered areas of light pitting.  The markings on the metal are clear and readable.  The stock is solid with nice flats and corners.  There is a visible JAS cartouche.
