Confederate Cap Pouch SOLD
This cap pouch is solid and an attractive deep dark color. It has a single wide strap on the back. The latch tap is formed as part of the flap and has a break in the end at the finial hole. There is a thin leather strip connecting the two ends together allowing the flap to be latched. This suggests a period repair, but there is no way of knowing for sure. The body is poorly formed and it was made with no inner flap. The finial is brass and - as one confederate collector calls it - a "Pine Tree" finial. This is due to the straight tapered shape. The leather and stitching is solid. There are some cracks along the edge of the flap.
