Colt 1860 ARMY

The Colt 1860 Army was developed at the requested of the US Army.  The Colt Dragoon was well liked but heavy.  The 1860 Army was the result of streamlining the design.   The 6 shot 44 caliber revolver quickly became quite popular.   The wartime production exceeded 150.000.

This example was made early in 1863 and has a grey patina.  The markings in the metal are strong and readable. The serial numbers all match except the period wedge.  The cylinder has a lot of scene remaining.  The action is strong.  The wood grips have nicks and bumps.
