    Colt 1851 Navy. SOLD

The 1851 Navy was a popular belt pistol.  Wild Bill Hickok carried a pair. They were popular on the frontier and were carried in California during the gold rush.

This example was produced in 1856.  It is complete and all serial numbers match including the wedge.  The action is nice and crisp.  The metal is a smooth with a pleasant patina with traces of finish.  The markings are all crisp and readable.  There is silver remaining on the brass.  The cylinder scene is visible with about 50 to 60 percent visible.
