AMES 1850 STAFF AND FIELD SWORD.  SOLD

This sword is a very nice example of a staff and field sword.  It is marked Ames on the blade and scabbard.  The blade is very nice with clear bright etching.  There are no nicks and a small amount of staining.  The HILT is solid and has a beautiful US.  There is some remaining gilt.  The grip is sharkskin and has all the metal wire wrap.  There is very little wear on the grip.  

The metal scabbard is complete and has a patina on the metal and the brass. The mounts have decorative cut edges.  The Ames mark on the top throat is clear and readable. There is some gold wash on the scabbard throat.    SOLD
