American Revolution Flintlock Fowler
This fowler is made with an English lock and Barrel. The stock is tigerstripped maple and the brass furniture looks American. The ramrod thimbles are made from sheet brass. The metal has a deep grey patina with much light pitting. The lock has a makers name and the hook breech barrel has English proofs. The lock is missing the mainspring. I took the lock off and the mainspring had just come loose. It is intact and now in place. The front of the sear has wear and to engage the tumble notch, it drops below the edge of the lockplate. The frizzen does not have a bridle which suggestd mid 18th century.
