1835 SOCKET BAYONET

US Pattern 1835 Socket Bayonet   SOLD

This bayonet is the pattern designed for the 1835/1840 Flintlock smoothbore musket.  The bayonet lug was moved to the bottom of the barrel and a locking ring was added.  The blade is 18 inches and has a small US.  The blade has squared shoulders.  Later bayonets for this and the 1842 musket had rounded shoulders.  The bayonet is a silver grey patina with some small areas of light pitting.
