1819 Hall Flintlock Rifle.  On Hold

In 1819 John Hall received a contract for 1000 of his breechloading rifles.  He was allowed to work in the Rifle Works at Harpers Ferry.  For the next several years he worked, designing and building new machines.  He developed a new way of manufacturing that produced parts that were interchangeable.   The goal of interchangeable had been sought for some time.  He completed his first 1000 rifles in 1824.  He received a total of 4 contracts and production continued into the 1840s.

This example is dated 1834 and part of his third contract.  This rifle is complete and all origional.  It is excellent with over 90 percent of the origional browning on the barrel, frame and furniture.  The markings are clear on the breech.  The top of the breech is a silver grey with suggestions of the case colors.  The sides of the frame has much of the case colors remaining.  There is a M marked in the wood behind the triggerguard.
