Union Soldier Tintype
This is a 1/6th plate tintype in a wonderful thermoplastic case. The young man is standing at Order Arms and is wearing a 9 button dress frock. He has his leather accoutrements on including a belt with buckle cap pouch and bayonet scabbard. His cartridge box is slung over his shoulder with a leather strap with an eagle plate centered on his chest. He has a determined look. The image is sharp and clear. His musket is an imported Potsdam musket. These have distinctive shaped brass barrel bands. The Potsdam musket tended to be issued to western troops.
