1 - CSA Marked - Fayetteville Saber Bayonet

FAYETTEVILLE SABER BAYONET. SOLD

This saber bayonet is for the first types of Fayetteville rifle.  In late 1863 Fayetteville discontinued producing this bayonet and switched to the socket bayonet.  The cast handle has the fish scales typical for this bayonet.  The handle is missing the retaining spring and the locking piece.  The  blade is full length and has some scattered pitting.  It is clearly marked CSA at the base of the blade.  Most were unmarked.  There is a slight looseness in the blade.    SOLD
