FRRENCH 1754 Socket Bayonet SOLD
This socket bayonet is for a bottom lug. There is a L shaped slot. The socket is 3 3/16" long. The bayonet is hand forged. The blade is a little over 13 " long. There is a mark on the face of the blade as well as on the shank. The base of the blade is over 1" wide. These early bayonets have variations and were hand made. The metal has a deep brown patina with some scattered areas of light pitting. This is a solid example of a bayonet from possibly the French and Indian War and certainly the American Revolution.
