This Confederate cartridge box is a copy of the pattern 1839 69 cal round ball cartridge box. It has a set of two tins in the box. There is a pointed brass finial. There is a name scratched in the flap. The implement pouch has an interesting feature - instead of a strap sewn in to receive the strap for the flap, it has two slits in the pouch itself. One of the buckles has been replaced. This pattern of box was copied by several southern makers.
