Colt 1849 Pocket Pistol
The 1849 Pocket Pistol was Colt's most popular percussion pistol. Over 300,000 were produced from 1849 until 1872, this one was produced in 1854. It has a 5" barrel. The serial numbers match on the barrel, frame, cylinder, trigger guard and backstrap. The wedge is numbered but does not match. The metal is a pleasing smooth patina color with all of the marking clear and readable. There are spots of blue finish on the barrel. The two line New York barrel address is clear and readable. There are a few small spots of light pitting on the metal but the metal has smooth even untouched patina. The cylinder scene is sharp and clear and the name of the engraver is visible next to the Colt Patent. The action is crisp and solid. The brass parts have a large portion of their silver remaining. The wood grips have most of the varnish remaining. This is a pretty pocket pistol.
