Collins 1850 Foot Officers Sword
Collins made swords, socket bayonets and saber bayonets. Many of their swords were sold to commercial outfitters.
This example is marked Collins & Co. Hartford Conn 1862 at the base of the blade. The blade is etched with a pair of crossed US flags on one side and an US on the other side. The etching is crisp snd beautiful. The leather scabbard is strong and has the origional mounts. The sharkskin grips show some wear, and the wire wrapping is tight. This is a beautiful sword.
