    CDV Captain F. Ogilby 15 US Infantry

    Nice CDV of an armed officer with dress hat and epaulettes.  Captain Frederick Darley Ogilby of the 15th US Infantry. Commissioned a 1st lieutenant in the 15th beginning in mid May, 1861. He would receive brevets to captain and major in December, 1862 for "gallant and meritorious service" as a result of his actions during the Battle of Murfreesboro. Ogilby would serve as an adjutant starting in June, 1863 and then receive a promotion to captain that following June. He would fight in every major engagement fought in the west and would go on to have a lengthy post war military career in Arizona. He would later die of pneumonia while on active duty at Camp Apache in 1877.
