This is a sad example of a post war alteration. The box is a CS box which had pointed waist belt loops when made. The body of the box is strong and the stitching is tight. The buckles are gone and the finial is brass. The finial is somewhat bulbous and a different shape than federal finials. After the war someone riveted waist belt loops on the back using thin straps of leather. Also the outer flap was trimmed. Bit it does display well with the flap open. The inner flap is thin brown leather. Still a presentable example of a CS cartridge box for less than 400. SOLD
