Here at SUSAT Civil War Antiques, we are committed to offering quality items and excellent service. We regularly attend Civil War shows and have brought exhibits to many of them. Along the way, we’ve found a wonderful fellowship of collectors and history enthusiasts who feel like family. Our travels always include the search for interesting pieces to share with you.

George has been passionate about American history for most of his life. At age 13, a family vacation to the East marked his first visits to Gettysburg, Harpers Ferry, and other Civil War sites. Those experiences left a lasting impression and deepened his love for the period. Over the years—through collecting, reenacting, and studying—American military history has remained his greatest interest. Harpers Ferry holds a special significance for him, with its legacy of innovation through figures like John Hall and James Burton. He has long had a fondness for the products of that historic armory. His wife Paula shares this love of history, and Harpers Ferry has become special to her as well.

Paula is also a reenactor with over 40 years of experience. She has a passion for 18th- and 19th-century clothing and daily life, and has reproduced garments from both centuries. She enjoys visiting costume museums and has organized and coordinated period fashion shows. From the early days of their relationship, George and Paula have frequented antique shops, shows, and auctions—and they continue to do so today.

Soon after they were married, they purchased a Victorian home in need of significant work. Together they tackled a long to-do list, and a few years ago were proud to place the house on a local home tour. For many years they traveled to reenactments and living history events, sewing their own period clothing and visiting historic sites. Their shared love of history and antiques has shaped countless journeys and memories.

Quality matters. Relationships matter. Many pieces of the past are hard to put down—each one a tangible connection to the people and events of its time. It remains an amazing experience to hold history in your hands.
