US Oval Brass Belt and Plate. SOLD
This is the standard waist belt for the Federal infantry. It has the stamped brass oval plate with lead filling. This plate has arrow hooks. The leather belt has what look like slits for the shoulder plate and may have been converted from a shoulder belt. It so the width was trimmed to the belt width. The nice thing about the belt is that there is a maker stamp and date "1862". Marked early war belts are uncommon. The belt is solid but has much of the finish flakked off. The stamp is deep and clear.
