    Commercial Cartridge Box

This cartridge box is smaller than the 58 caliber P1861 cartridge box. - one is shown adjacent in one picture.  This box has one tin, that has round tin tubes for cartridges.  The tin tube is about 56 caliber.  The box is unmarked and is set up for a shoulder strap albeit differently that the infantry box.  There are scallops cut out of the top of the box that make it easier to grab the tins.  The scallops are seen on eary Spencer boxes so this could be an early Spencer box.  It had a US plate at one time.  The leather is solid and the stitching is strong.  This is a scarce box.
