Colt 1851 Navy
The 1851 Navy was a popular pistol. It was developed in time for the California Gold Rush and used by the US Army on the Frontier in the 1850s. Also it was popular during the Civil War.
This example was made in 1857 and has matching numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, loading lever and backstrap. The markings are deep and clear. The cylinder scene is worn with about 15 to 20 percent remaining. The metal is grey with scattered areas of pitting. The wood grips are solid with some dings and wear. Still a good solid example.
