1855 Rifle Bayonet

This is the brass handled saber bayonet for the 1855 rifle.  The bayonet is unmarked except for the inspectors stamp on the brass handle.  The blade is full length but the front 6 inches of the bayonet have been slightly thinned during the period of use.  The metal is a nice grey color with only a few small spots of staining/ pitting.  There are some initials scratched on the back (top) of the brass handle.  

This model bayonet was also used with the late alteration 1841 rifle listed elsewhere in the website.
